Elon Musk lost money. So what?

Until recently, I had only heard bits and pieces about Elon Musk. I found his move to buy Twitter ballsy so I read and watched some of his interviews to understand a bit more about him. I realized that the way he is usually presented by media has nothing to do with his real version-or at least his version during the interviews.

The man is not just a genius but he’s also a modern-day Ulysses… Lately, everyone has been complaining about how he lost too much money -like it was not his own money. I can only imagine one reason why people could be so angry at him for losing so much money -and this is because he will have to pay less taxes!

The man has said that he doesn’t care about money! Why do YOU care? Was the money yours? I just don’t get it.

You know, there are companies fostering lazy employees and I’ve experienced this myself. I was once hired by a company a few years ago and I literally had nothing to do all day. I quit two weeks in because I was bored to death.

As an entrepreneur myself, I can totally relate to Elon Musk’s decision to fire people who did nothing all day or/and people who deliberately harmed others through their work.

I can also relate 100% with the fact that if I work hard as a leader, I expect nothing less from my team. Respectively, all hard workers should be compensated, rewarded and treated well. And from what I hear, Elon Musk knows how to reward hard-working employees.

I recently posted a poll on my LinkedIn page that received over 400 votes. Good enough to have a glimpse within corporate practices. The question was “How often has your employer/CEO stayed up with you during your overtime to motivate you?”

Only 16% answered ‘Always’. When Elon Musk said that he used to sleep on the floor of a factory or that he stays up all night working, well no-one can blame him for lacking work ethics. On the contrary, he leads by example! You know who you’re dealing with. If you are willing to work hard enough, then you’re more than welcome to join his companies. If not, well work on yourself first.
